Scenic Sightseeing In Lanzarote - Vistors Attractions
Whilst Lanzarote has traditionally been linked with package holidays a growing number of independent travellers are now visiting the island. Lured by cheaper flights, great weather and some seriously spectacular scenery, as Lanzarote is home to an abundance of wonderful natural attractions many of which were forged during the massive volcanic eruptions that rocked the island during the 1730´s.
Holidays in Lanzarote have been popular since the 1970´s. When the fourth largest of the Canary Islands became one of the most popular destinations in Spain. Today it still attracts millions of visitors every year. And whilst many of them opt to enjoy their break around the pool or on the beach there are loads of stunning natural sights to explore. This prompts plenty of visitors away from their Lanzarote holiday villas for at least a days sightseeing.
Visitors looking to explore the island in greater detail will appreciate the work of Manrique Cesar who sought to create a collection of unique tourist attractions that would provide a worthy alternative to the many golf courses and water theme parks that are so prevalent elsewhere in Spain.For example sites such as the Jameos del Agua, which embodied his desire to fuse art with nature.

The Aqua Park: Fun, fun, fun for the whole family. The park boasts an excellent selection of water slides and although None of the pools get heated as the weather is so great this is not a problem although it may be a bit cool on days that are overcast (not that there are that many). You may find yourself paying for lockers and sun beds so make sure you budget for this. or maybe The Timanfaya National Park: Timanfaya is a site not to be missed and well worth a days break from lapping up the sunshine on one of Lanzarote's excellent beaches. Scarred from extensive historic volcanic activity the barren landscape has an unnerving beauty all of its own. A display by the parks warden further demonstrates the power that lies dormant below this spectacular park
If these are not to your taste you could also try Cuevas de los Verdes; The Green Caves. You don't need to be a caving enthusiast to admire the natural beauty that this cave system exposes to those who go out of their way to explore what the island has to offer. It is advisable to take a tour with the local guide to understand the true nature and past uses of the cave system that now even boasts its own auditorium and which hosts many concerts that take advantage of the fantastic acoustic experience the auditorium offers. If you stop off or visit Timanfaya drive a short distance to the north of and you soon encounter the surreal sight of the Green Lagoon, which is situated just outside the village of El Golfo. This lagoon has been created by an interaction between sea water and algae and has been used as a film location many times over. Most famously by the makers of One Million Years BC.
If your heading for the north of the island take the time to explore the majestic Valley of 1000 Palms. An oasis of Canarian palms created by villagers in Haria. Who have been planting a palm to mark the birth of every baby locally for centuries.

A blanket of fog cloaks the ground
The day-break bird begins his song
The golden orbs rise begins the day
Sky pales, red and blue to gray.
Moths flutter aimlessly in the light
Looking for something like a lantern at night
Swallows sweep down and grab up these snacks
The moths leave behind only wing-dust tracks.
Smooth glassy waters reflect the corona
Marking the death of Dysis, the Hora
Flares of gold shimmer through ripples
Flames flicker on in the out-flow trickles.
The final remnants of stars and the moon
Disappear one by one, they'll be all gone soon
The last of the midnight tree-frogs scurry off
And I'm left alone in silence, sitting on the old dock.

I remembered those from a play my cousins were in recently, LOL.
I would not change a word and can so relate.
I wake at 5 AM everyday and with no jangling alarm
